Rules & Guidelines
A few little rules to keep tails wagging!
We want everyone to have a wonderful time at The Dog Wood. To keep our woodland safe, peaceful and enjoyable for all our visitors, we've put together a few simple guidelines.
Please take a moment to read through them before your visit.
1. Arriving & Leaving
-
Please arrive at your allocated booking time, not before.
-
Wait until the previous visitors have completely left before entering.
-
Drive into the designated parking area and close the entrance gate securely before letting your dog out of the car.
-
Before leaving, make sure your dog is safely back inside your vehicle before opening the gate.
-
Please leave promptly at the end of your 50-minute session to allow for our 10-minute changeover.
These little steps help keep everyone safe, particularly our reactive and nervous visitors.
2. Keep It to Three Dogs
A maximum of three dogs are allowed per booking, unless you've received prior written permission from us.
This is a planning requirement, so please respect the limit.
3. Pick Up After Your Pup
We all know accidents happen, but please make sure you pick up after your dog straight away. Please use the designated dog waste bins where provided, and leave the woodland clean and tidy for the next visitors.
4. Look After Our Woodland
The Dog Wood is a natural space, and we'd love to keep it that way!
-
Please discourage your dog from digging.
-
Let us know immediately if your dog creates a hole, particularly near the fencing.
-
Avoid damaging trees, plants, fences or equipment.
-
Take all toys, treats, food packaging and other belongings home with you.
-
Please don't leave any litter behind.
A little care from everyone helps us preserve the woodland for years to come.
5. Keep Your Dog Safe
Although our woodland is securely enclosed, you're responsible for supervising your dog throughout your visit.
Please check that the fencing and gates are suitable for your dog before letting them off lead, particularly if they're known to jump, climb or dig.
If you spot any damage or something that doesn't look quite right, please let us know straight away.
6. Healthy Dogs, Happy Walks
Please only bring dogs that are fit and well.
-
Dogs showing signs of kennel cough, vomiting or diarrhoea within the previous 72 hours must stay at home.
-
Please keep up to date with appropriate flea, tick and worm prevention.
7. Reactive & Exempted Dogs
We're proud to offer a space where reactive, nervous and exempted dogs can enjoy some freedom.
Dogs subject to restrictions under the Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 are welcome, provided all applicable legal requirements are met.
Where required, please email your Certificate of Exemption to hello@thedogwood.co.uk before your booking, quoting your booking reference.
All legally required lead, muzzle, insurance and handling conditions must be followed, including when entering and leaving the woodland.
8. Be Considerate of Our Neighbours
Our woodland is tucked away in a lovely part of Bosham, and we'd like to keep it peaceful for everyone.
Please be mindful of noise, discourage excessive barking and treat our neighbours and other visitors with kindness and respect.
9. Children & Visitors
Children and family members are very welcome! However, children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times, and under-18s must be accompanied by an adult.
Please don't allow children to climb trees, gates, fences or equipment. The Dog Wood is a natural dog exercise space rather than a children's playground.
10. Parking
Up to two vehicles are permitted per booking unless agreed otherwise in writing. Please park in the designated hardstanding area inside the entrance gate and avoid parking on grassed areas or obstructing any access points.
11. Enjoy Nature Safely
One of the best things about The Dog Wood is that it's a real woodland, not just a grassy field! That means you may come across uneven ground, tree roots, mud, branches, wildlife and other natural features. Please wear suitable footwear, keep an eye on your surroundings and take extra care during wet, icy or windy weather.
Our woodland has no artificial lighting, so please consider visibility when booking.
12. A Few Final Things
To help keep The Dog Wood safe and enjoyable:
-
No smoking anywhere on the premises.
-
No barbecues, parties or alcohol.
-
No drones or remotely operated flying objects.
-
Please turn off any water taps after use.
-
Dogs must remain under appropriate supervision and control.
-
All customers must have appropriate third-party liability insurance for their dogs.
-
Please report any damage, accidents or safety concerns as soon as possible.
